About Naomi Ozaniec Should you be contemplating joining the House of Life it is only right that you should know something about me. I feel very fortunate to have found the Mysteries in my mid twenties. But I think I was looking for a spiritual path all my life. As a child I was thought to be ‘highly imaginative’!! I always believed in magic, as most children do, but where others outgrew it, I just became more interested, I was a voracious reader and by the time I was 11 had read the entire ‘occult‘ section of the local library. This included many books on witchcraft both historical and contemporary but although I read a great deal, this held no appeal for me. I read my first book on the chakras at about this time too - probably the Victorian classic by Charles Leadbeater. I came across a copy of The Cosmic Doctrine by Dion Fortune at 12 and found my first Alice Bailey book at 14 - thank goodness for the local library. !! I loved what I was reading but I soon discovered that others did not. My father considered my newest finds to be, ‘bunkum’. I did not stop reading – I just stopped taking it home.
Time passed but the mystical, magical and metaphysical trends in my life multiplied. Between about 18 - 23 I became deeply involved in the phenomena of the séance. During this time, I experienced many inexplicable things. This period was an important foundation which taught me about the continuity of life beyond death but it did not provide me with a path of spiritual growth. Eventually I outgrew this approach and finally in my mid twenties I found the door into the Mysteries through a small local group. However this was not an entry which dignified either myself or the Mysteries for my first teacher was also a very skilful manipulator of subtle energies, so I came into the Mysteries riding the crest of an uncontrollable kundalini explosion. As I later discovered this power game was his regular party piece. So I learned simultaneously about manipulative men masquerading as spiritual teachers and the powerful reality of subtle energies but at last I had come home. That was to be the start of a far greater story; I eventually extricated myself from this group and began a real quest of self-discovery through the aegis of the Western Mystery Tradition proper. Almost three decades later, I am still to be found within its embrace. I have walked the path of being and becoming and I invite you to do the same. I have seen the landscape and I am happy to be your companion. Picture, 'Kore' by Philp Tonkyn
