An Invitation

The House of Life ever stands open. I am extending an invitation using the words of Isha Schwaller de Lubicz who words have inspired me throughout the decades. The extract is part of a dialogue between the student Her-Bak and his teacher.

‘‘We have put a few simple keys in your hands. They open a door to exact knowledge, hidden in symbols. Now it is for you to advance by your own efforts. First find the doors, prove your discernment, your respect for the eternal wisdom. Then we shall open our treasuries.

You have understood the first condition of success. The second is this: make it your constant endeavour to awaken your higher consciousness, your divine Ma’at in whom is all knowledge. Without her you will have but your cerebral facilities and if rational thinking is your only guide it will bring you to a philosophy of negation.

If the ‘heart’s vision’ doesn’t awaken he will work according to his possibilities under surveillance, as you have seen in various places of outer instruction. For every mode of thinking is admissible in a theocratic state, which is governed finally, through a process of selection, by an elite of the people. But if under the influence of texts and symbols the intelligence of the heart lights up, the way is wide open to him and he has full liberty.

For our kingdom will be made in Heaven’s image; our roads will be your roads, your cycles will rule our lives, what is below will be as what is on high. They said to men ‘live with the heavens and with nature and nature will give you knowledge of Heaven.’’

‘‘The man who seeks the very truth of truths is alone with himself. You will be alone among men, like the kernel in fruit but you will be one with those who belong to it. Become a living germ and you will draw to yourself those who may become part of it likewise.

Know your most inward self and look for what corresponds with its nature. Then there will be communion you will have knowledge and obscurity will cease. Work to confirm the truth of what you have heard and to prove that our philosophy is unassailable. Success will be the sign of the Neter’s blessing.’’
